DIY Bat Detector

There was a post today over at Random Good Stuff today about buying a bat box to attract bats that in turn eat the bugs. I thought that is crazy! I can build that thing! A quick search found some plans for DIY bat boxes and ways to attract them, as well as what not to do.

I also found plans Bat Detector. Tony designed this detector which can be built for around $25 using readily available parts. It has been used all over the world and many users sent in pictures of their builds.

Interesting project, but id probably op for a bat activity logger or something like, as I’ve always found a flashlight to work just fine for manual bat detection.
