Robot Woodpecker Project

Robot Wind Up Bird Flock

HC Gilje created a flock of robotic woodpeckers as a study to see how nature will interact with them. He calls them wind-up birds, but they are actually electro-mechanical. The prototype was built using an Arduino for the brains and an XBee module to allow communications. A solenoid and wood block are used for the pecking sound. Be sure to check the photo set for lots of build pictures.

What happened to HAD? Is it possible that the ‘new’ format has finally ruined them?

Miked, great job on the site. I have been reading since the begining, and I have to say that the content is awesome.

I didn’t do it. The HAD folding team has a post stating that HAD was changing hosting and got hit with a DOS attack.

Thank you. Analytics says I have had zero visitors this month, so I have been lagging on posting. I need to fix that. I have several posts I still need to write up.
